Grand Est covers 57,433 square kilometres (22,175 sq mi) of land and is the sixth-largest of the regions of France. Grand Est borders four countries—Belgium (Wallonia region) and Luxembourg (Cantons of Esch-sur-Alzette and Remich) on the north, Germany on the east and northeast, and Switzerland on the southeast. Casino revenues have helped the Mille Lacs Band build and improve schools, health care facilities, community centers, a water treatment facility, roads, ceremonial buildings, and more. Millions of dollars have also been donated to food shelves, schools, hospitals, law enforcement agencies, and other organizations that serve the entire community. The casinos have also attracted new residents to the area, boosted tourism, and created dozens of new businesses across the region.

The Grand Est region, a unification of the former regions of Alsace, Champagne-Ardenne and Lorraine in the eastern part of France, offers an astounding wealth and diversity of tourist attractions. The region is filled with beautiful lakes, mountains, rivers and other natural wonders. Consider a visit to the Forest of Argonne, the Vosges Massif, Montagne de Reims Regional Natural Park or the Regional Natural Park of Ballons des Vosges. The Grand Est region will particularly delight wine-lovers. A visit and tasting session in the cellars and vineyards of Champagne is, of course, an absolute must for oenophiles. Along the Alsace Wine Route, you can discover the secrets and flavors of such artisanal wines as the sylvaner, pinot blanc, noir or gris, riesling and Gewürztraminer.
